Queer Eye fans, consider your culinary wishes granted, because Antoni Porowski is bringing his cooking expertise right into your kitchens with his first cookbook! Antoni first announced the cookbook, Antoni in the Kitchen ($21), in an Instagram post featuring a delicious-looking bowl of homemade ramen. The cookbook, which debuted Sept. 9, is now available for preorder. The nearly-300-page book includes a foreword written by original Queer Eye culinary expert Ted Allen (so sweet!) and features recipes that are perfect for everything from throwing together “healthyish” weeknight meals to hosting an impromptu dinner party.
Despite quickly winning our hearts with his knowledge and love of food, Antoni’s personal journey into the culinary world had its ups and downs, and his cookbook gives key insights into how he became the chef he is today. “I saw myself as an aspiring actor, my work in the food business as a means to an end,” Antoni wrote in the book’s introduction. “It would be a full season of working on Queer Eye before I realized the track was one I’d been on all my life.”
Following the June 2018 opening of his NYC restaurant, The Village Den, Antoni is taking another huge leap forward with his cookbook, and we can’t wait to replicate the recipes. Antoni in the Kitchen, which is available now, is divided into categories like Greens, Veg, and Other Side Dishes; Soups and Stews; Apps and Snacks; Pasta and Rice; Weeknight “Healthyish”; Animal; and Bake. Yum!
After falling in love with his avocado grapefruit salad and mastery of all things guacamole, I definitely can’t wait to try out recipes like his Malaysian chili shrimp, roasted carrots with carrot-top pesto, Kansas City coconut sheet cake, and salty lemon squares. You read that right – salt on a lemon square. Cheers to letting Antoni guide us through his culinary ways!
