Ebonyi student loses hand after IED explosion

An improvised explosive gadget (IED) which went off in the course of the break hour of Glory Land Excessive College in Azugwu, Ebonyi reportedly chopped off the hand of one of many college students. 


The student was rushed to the emergency unit of the Alex Ekwueme Federal College Educating Hospital, Abakaliki after the explosion which brought on severe confusion and panic within the faculty and its environs.


Recounting how the incident occurred, an eyewitness mentioned the primary sufferer Chibuike was enjoying with the gadget when it went off. 


One of many college students instructed New Telegraph: “I was in the school when the explosion occurred. I can’t tell what it was. But I saw Chibuike playing with the thing before it exploded. It’s like he came to school with it. The thing chopped off his left hand. He has been taken to the Hospital.”


Ebonyi State Police spokesperson, (DSP) Loveth Odah has reportedly confirmed the incident. She nonetheless mentioned they’re but to get an official report from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) accountable for Eke-Aba Police Station on the incident.


Odah added: “The DPO has gone there, but he has not reported to us. So we are still waiting for him.”
