Following their exit from the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon, the Super Eagles players and officials will on Monday return to the country.

The team will leave Garoua airport in Cameroon at 7:30pm aboard a chartered Air Peace airline for an hour flight to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja.

The players and coaches will be received at the airport by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) President, Amaju Melvin Pinnick and members of his cabinet.

After their meeting with the NFF officials, the players would be departing to their different destinations.

Recall that the Super Eagles on Sunday were knocked out of the ongoing AFCON  with a second-half goal from Youseff Msakni for Tunisia.

The Super Eagles had not lost any match at the AFCON 2021 tournament prior to the round of 16 clash against the Carthage Eagles on Sunday.

Tunisia, who lost twice in the group stage and only went through as one of the best third-place teams, will face Burkina Faso in the quarterfinal of the tournament.

Meanwhile, former Super Eagles player, Julius Aghahowa has shared his thoughts on the elimination of Nigeria from the AFCON 2021 tournament.

Aghahowa, who was a guest analyst on AIT AFCON coverage said he was disappointed at Super Eagles’ Maduka Okoye’s poor judgement.

He said: “Okoye should have saved that ball because he saw the ball coming towards his direction,”

“I am really disappointed and feel he should have done better. This was a game we didn’t deserve to lose at all. But it has happened and we have to accept our fate.”
