The future of softball is making the pilgrimage to Greenville, N.C., for the 2022 Little League Softball World Series.
Much like its Williamsport-based baseball counterpart, the tournament has undergone a few changes since the last time it hosted teams hailing from both the United States and abroad.
The most significant of those changes is that the East and West regions were divided into two. Now, the East region contains two regions (the Mid-Atlantic Region and the New England region), while the West region consists of the Northwest and West regions.
That change allowed for 12 teams to take part in this year's tournament, as opposed to the ten that have participated in the past. More action for those making the trek to Greenville.
The tournament has tended to be dominated by American sides. An international side has only won the competition on one occasion — Puerto Rico in 2001. Nonetheless, the game continues to grow at home and abroad, much of which stems from intrigue that comes while watching the storied softball competition itself.
Here is everything you need to know about the 2022 Little League Softball World Series, including bracket information and television schedule.
Little League Softball World Series bracket 2022
There are 12 teams taking part in the 2022 Little League Softball World Series. It is a double-elimination tournament, meaning that teams still have a chance at reaching the finals if they lose their first game.
The larger bracket is split up into two different brackets of their own: the purple bracket and the orange bracket. Teams that advance out of the purple and orange brackets will then face off against the winner of the two elimination brackets to determine which sides compete for the crown of Little League Softball World Series champions. The losers of the two semifinals will meet in a consolation game for third place.
Each team that travels to Greenville will play a minimum of three games. You can download a PDF version of the tournament bracket off of the LLSWS's official website.
