Manny Machado has Manny Machado-esque response to Dodgers' sweep of Padres

Different player, but "Manny being Manny" lives on.

The first post-trade deadline meeting between the the Dodgers and the Padres went in favor of Los Angeles, with the Dodgers capping off a three-game sweep of the Friars on Sunday night.

With LA's NL West lead ballooning, there could be cause for worry in San Diego. Manny Machado, though, isn't at all fazed. When asked if he was "concerned" about the series loss, Machado responded with typical Machado bravado.

"Concerned? Why would I be concerned? Not at all," he told reporters.

And why not?

"I'm f—ing Manny Machado."

To Machado's point, he is playing to MVP levels this year, even with his two-hit, four-strikeout performance against the Dodgers this past series.

The Padres were big movers at the trade deadline, acquiring Juan Soto, Brandon Drury, Josh Hader and Josh Bell to help combat the Dodgers in the NL West and continue their push for the postseason.

"Combat" might be a bit of a stretch, though. As of Aug. 8, the Padres sit 15 1/2 games back of the Dodgers in the NL West. They do have a slim 1 1/2-game lead over the Brewers in the NL wild-card race.

They also have reinforcements coming, with star shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. expected to rejoin the team in the coming week.

Well, at least Manny is confident.
