Why I Can Never Return To PDP – Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said he would remain an elder statesman, as he is not planning on returning to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Recall that Obasanjo had dumped the PDP after falling out with former President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the 2015 election.

He had also ordered the chairman of his ward to shred his party card to pieces in public, announcing that he had quit party politics.

Speaking on Saturday at his Abeokuta home while playing host to the National Chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu and others members, Obasanjo said that there is going back on his decision to leave the PDP and partisan politics.

2023: Former Governor, Yarima Declares Intention To Run For Presidency

A former Governor of Zamfara State, Ahmad Sani Yarima has declared his intention to join the 2023 Presidential race.

Yarima while speaking during a BBC Hausa Service programme said he would contest in the general elections since President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure is ending.

He said, “If God spares my life, by 2023 I would go into the contest for the post of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“In 2007 I made similar attempts but the Arewa Consultative Forum and other respected elders of the North pleaded with me and other contenders to step down for Muhammadu Buhari and I agreed.

Seriki Fulani Reveals Why He Wants Sunday Igboho In Jail

The Seriki Fulani of Ibarapaland, Saliu Abdulkadir, has spoken against the release of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

Abdulkadir who was evicted from Igangan by Igboho noted that the daring nature of the activist is why he does not want him released from Benin prison.

The Seriki who relocated to Ilorin, Kwara State, noted that he did not handle his eviction from the community with levity.

He further stated that he got assurances from the Oyo State Government after the quit notice but he was surprised that Igboho carried out his threat without anybody challenging him.

EFCC Drags Ex-Bank PHB (Now Keystone Bank) Director To Court Over N26.6bn Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dragged a former director of Bank PHB (now Keystone), Funmi Adenmosun, before a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.

Naija News reports that the EFCC accused Adenmosun of carrying out an alleged N26.6 billion money laundering fraud.

The anti-graft agency dragged the former bank director alongside his company, Home Trust Savings and Loan Limited and a private company, Rare Properties and Development Limited before Justice Daniel Osiagor on Friday.

President Buhari Promises To Crush Terrorists

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday during his visit to Kaduna State vowed to crush terrorists and criminals operating in the state and across the country.

Buhari stated this while speaking at the State Banquet organised by the state Governor, Nasir El-Rufa’i to commemorate his official visit to the state.

The President commended the state government for establishing a ministry dedicated to internal security.

IPOB: Nnamdi Kanu Denies Drawing Biafra Map

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has denied drawing a map of Biafran land.

Kanu on Friday blamed detractors for the development and warned them to desist from misinforming and deceiving the general public.

The IPOB leader gave this warning in a statement released through the spokesman of the group, Emma Powerful.

Okorocha Laments Over Killings, Kidnapping Under Uzodinma’s Government

The lawmaker representing Imo West Senatorial District, Rochas Okorocha, has accused the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, of not handling the crisis rocking the state.

The former Governor of the state further stated that Imo is a counterfeit of what he left behind at the end of his administration.

Okorocha stated this in a statement released through his Special Adviser Media, Sam Onwuemeodo.

2023 Igbo Presidency: Southeast Doesn’t Need Consensus Candidate To Win – Kalu

Former Abia State Governor and Abia North Senator, Orji Uzor Kalu has declared that the southeast doesn’t have to present a consensus candidate before it can win the 2023 presidency in Nigeria.

The Senate Chief Whip pointed out that it is not uncommon for regions to have more than one candidate representing them in presidential elections.

Kalu made the submission on Friday in response to a position that the chances of the southeast to produce the nation’s next leader in 2023 may be scuttled if many candidates emerge from the region for the same position.
