Von Miller is out indefinitely because of a knee injury he suffered against the Lions on Thanksgiving Day. The Bills' top pass rusher is hoping that he won't have to miss much time because of it.
Miller addressed his injury on a recent episode of "The VonCast." He said that he was lucky to avoid damage to his ACL and is hopeful he can return in short order.
"I do have some lateral meniscus damage and it's going to have to be addressed," Miller said, as transcribed by ESPN. "But I do feel like I can, you know, play through that, so I'm just going to wait a little bit, and let the swelling go down for about seven to 10 days and, hopefully, right before the Jets game I will be back."
When will Von Miller return for the Bills?
The Bills are scheduled to play the Jets in Week 14, which would be about 2 1/2 weeks after Miller suffered the injury.
That might sound ambitious to some, but Miller doesn't believe it is. That said, he also said that he isn't looking to rush back.
"If I'm out there, you know that I'm ready to go and I feel totally confident," he said.
Miller suffered the injury just before the two-minute warning of the first half in Buffalo's Week 12 game against Detroit. His knee bent awkwardly after he had his foot stepped on while chasing Lions quarterback Jared Goff.
Miller spent a few minutes in the blue medical tent before he was carted off. That led many to fear the worst, but Miller seems to believe that he will have a chance to return quickly.
Even if he can't, he isn't getting too down about the situation.
"I don't want nobody feeling sorry for me," Miller said. "I signed a six-year deal (in the 2022 offseason), don't feel sorry for me. . . . I just got to fight through it, man, and I'll be back. Rehab is going good. I'm feeling good."
Miller's status will be something to watch as the Bills look to emerge from the tightly packed AFC East and challenge the Chiefs for the No. 1 seed in the conference. He has already been ruled out of Buffalo's "Thursday Night Football" game against the Patriots in Week 13, but it seems that the team is willing to go week to week after that.
