Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt

Some on social media have suggested that Abidal’s post has indicated that a move for Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt is over.

To be clear, Abidal made no mention of De Ligt on his post.

And rather than being a covert message about Barcelona’s transfer strategy, Abidal gave away the meaning behind his tweet in the comments section on his own IG post.

Abidal wrote out a string of hashtags with revealed his post was actually about cryptocurrency and bitcoin.

So what’s going on with De Ligt?

Following Holland’s defeat to Portugal in the Nationa League final, the 19-year-old Ajax captain confirmed he’s now off on holiday.

De Ligt has also clearly stated that a major consideration around any move from Ajax is the amount of game time he’ll secure.

When it comes to the rumour mill, PSG are being tipped as being ahead of Barcelona in the race for De Ligt.
