A 27-year-old 500 degree law student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, has allegedly been murdered by a police officer.
According to Vanguard, Augustine Ugwu was killed by an officer of the Nigeria Police Force at Nsukka after being trailed by a native safety outfit constituted by the chairman of the native authorities space, Patrick Omeje.
Augustine was stated to have gone to a beer parlor at Odobido in Nsukka council space with his buddy on Thursday, April 23, 2020. The deceased had simply arrived at the beer parlor and ordered a drink when members of the native safety outfit (Civilian Anti-cult) arrested him, beat him, and handed him over to the officer answerable for Anti-cult in Nsukka, Ferdinand Nnamdi Ochi.
The publication provides that Ferdinand Ochi murdered the student over a yet-to-be-identified difficulty.

“To my shock, I noticed individuals making entry of their circumstances in his workplace. That was after I started to suspect foul play. On leaving his workplace, an unknown quantity known as and knowledgeable me that it was DSP Ochi who killed my son.
“I reported my encounter with him to the DPO and he instructed me to take my complaints to the police space command at Enugu.
“So, it was at Enugu that the space commander instructed the Nsukka DPO to start a preliminary investigation into the matter whereas I can go anyplace with my petition. It was on the power of that recommendation that the DPO reluctantly accepted to start the investigation.
“I used to be anticipating the suspects to be arrested however that by no means occurred. On Wednesday, the native authorities chairman, Omeje, introduced members of the safety outfit, who arrested my son, to the divisional police command at Nsukka the place their statements had been taken.

Vanguard contacted the chief of the native safety gang, Oliver Ozioko, to ask about the arrest of Augustine Ugwu and he stated: “All I can say is that we arrested him and handed him over to the police in Nsukka.”
The spokesperson of the Enugu State Police Command, Daniel Ndukwe, stated the allegation remains to be being investigated by the command.
