“I think that Beijing does prefer a Biden presidency,” Chang told “The Cats Roundtable” on WABC 770 AM-N.Y. “First of all, President Trump’s views on China are much more skeptical. He has had a robust program countering Chinese interests. Biden has made it clear that he has pro-China views.”
While Trump has been pressing China on trade, intellectual property theft, and forced-technology transfer, the long-running establishment has permitted China to become the world economic superpower it is now, so a change back in policy would be dangerous, Chang added to host John Catsimatidis.
“Also every president – regardless of party, regardless of outlook on China – always gives China a one-year or so pass to try to see if they can sort of create this good atmosphere with Beijing. We do not have a year to lose with China right now.”
Chang said China has been engaging in anti-Trump election-meddling campaigns similar to those Russia was investigated for after the 2016 presidential election.
“We know that the Democratic Party foreign policy establishment is very pro-China,” Chang concluded to Catsimatidis. “So you put all these reasons together, you have to be concerned that a President Biden would not have a policy that would defend the U.S. from Chinese malicious disinformation campaigns, and the other things that it’s doing to undermine our society.”
